Mission Day with a difference!

Last Friday we celebrated Mission Day at school. It was different to how we usually spend it because of Covid19 restrictions. We couldn't celebrate with our families or do any games and shopping. Unfortunately, we were not able to go to Mass either but we did start the day with a beautiful Liturgy under the canopy.

When we came to school we were allowed to come in mufti but we had to bring a gold coin as a donation. Every year our goal for Mission Day is to raise as much money as we can for Holy Angels orphanage in India. Ms Bullot told us that India has 50,000 new Covid19 cases every day. It must be very hard to live there and scary too.

After the Liturgy we came to class and we wrote our Basic Fact-athon. We had to ask friends and family to sponsor us. We brought our lists back to school. We all did very well and now we have to return all the donations to Mrs Thompson. We hope we raise a lot of money.

After morning tea we watched a movie called "The One and Only Ivan" about a gorilla and his friends. Mission Day was fun but different to our usual day but it was for a good cause - Holy Angels.

First Holy Communion 2020

On Sunday, 9 August, our St Patrick's faith community celebrated the ultra special Sacrament of First Holy Communion. Eight of the communicants are from Room 6 - to Andreaus, Julio, Nino, Joyla, Jamie, Frances, Tuaupu and Madelyn, we say Congratulations on making this commitment to continuing your faith journey with Jesus.
It was such a joyous occasion - beautiful singing, excitement from communicants and families and the amazing morning tea afterwards in the parish hall, added to this memorable occasion.

Autumn Leaves

Last week at morning tea time Nicole, Jaeden, Zenalia and I went to the huge Old Oak tree and  we played with the leaves flutterring down slowly on to the ground.
Nicole, Jaeden and I built a really long wall using leaves with bits of red, orange, yellow, brown and gold. But we didn't like the shape of the enormous big wall so we changed it into a mountain full of leaves. We all liked to jump, dive and swim in the massive pile of leaves. All the dried leaves crunched and crackled when we stepped on them. I tried sleeping on them but Jaeden and Nicole were throwing piles of leaves on me.  The leaves felt really spiky and prickly like a cactus.
When we jumped into it, I noticed that it kind of looked like a pool. Jaeden and Nicole liked the idea so we shifted all the leaves into a shape of a pool. We filled it with all the leaves we could find and we jumped in the leafy pool.

Zenalia had to play alone in her pile but we all still had lots of fun.

St Patrick's Day

St Patrick, our Patron Saint... 100 prayers per day. From being kidnapped at 16 and taken to Ireland as a slave, to becoming a missionary and bishop who established monasteries, schools and churches throughout Ireland. What an amazing Patron Saint!
